On Thursday, 27th March, we had the pleasure of hearing from Tim Harris on strategies for the recovery of the South African economy as well as the DA’s priorities for the upcoming election. While the realities of the key issues prohibiting the South African economy from reaching its growth potential were somewhat daunting, Tim also highlighted how the DA would tackle these challenges should they be voted into government, and remained optimistic about the future of our country, especially with the DA at its helm.
With South African’s abroad going to the polls on the 30th April 2014, Tim stressed the importance of every vote in this election. He referred to the “ANC squeeze” in coming weeks as they use national occasions such as Freedom Day rallies as campaign events. In this campaign, things will be different he said. The DA will match the ANC’s coverage on the ground and over the airwaves to ensure that voters know the DA is the real thing and we are a force to be reckoned with.
This is, of course, where we as DA supporters living abroad can play our part. Just over 26,000 VEC10 forms have been submitted globally. If every one of these votes was cast for the DA this would amount to more than half the votes for us to gain another seat in Parliament.
Every vote counts. Make your voice heard.

The DA are confident they can secure over 25% of the vote at next year’s general election (they won 24% of the vote at the last local elections), and have a good chance of taking Gauteng. The DA can help reverse the disappointments that South Africa is experiencing. It can deliver the education, the services, and the economic reforms necessary to boost the lives and futures of all South Africans.
In order to realise the potential of our country, maintain our democracy and ensure the principles of an Open Opportunity Society For All, we need your support to win in the next election. Your contribution can make a difference.
