Bell Pottinger Picket
14th Jul 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
The DA Abroad plan to picket outside Bell Pottinger’s offices in London on Friday, 14 July if they do not meet the demands set out by the DA who have reported the company to UK-based regulatory bodies for their role in initiating campaigns to stir racial tensions in South Africa.
On the 2 July 2017, the DA wrote to the UK-based Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) and also to the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) lodging formal complaints against Bell Pottinger.
While Bell Pottinger have since issued an apology, the DA have deemed this to be insufficient, and requested that Bell Pottinger come clean and fully disclose their all the dealings with the Gupta family and President Jacob Zuma.
More pertinently, Bell Pottinger should commit to using all profits obtained from Gupta business deals to investing in building schools or any developmental non-government organisations in South Africa.
The DA Abroad echo these requests by the DA, and will protest on Friday, 14 July if Bell Pottinger do not meet the following conditions:
1. Bell Pottinger must meet the submission deadline regarding the complaint set by the PRCA. The deadline is 6pm Thursday 13 July,
2. Bell Pottinger must make a full and transparent public disclosure about all their dealings with the Gupta-businesses by the same deadline, on their website.
3. Bell Pottinger must commit to contributing the full proceeds from the Gupta deals to building schools or any developmental non-government organisations, by the same deadline above.
If Bell Pottinger do not meet these calls by the Thursday, 6pm deadline, then the DA Abroad will stage a peaceful picket from 4:30pm-7pm on Friday 14 July outside the Bell Pottinger offices at Holborn Gate, 330 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7QD.
We welcome all supporters of this campaign to join us. We will be gathering from 4:30pm with the picket starting from 5pm.
The necessary permissions have been obtained from the Metro Police and local council.
