Born in Kroonstad to an Italian father and a South African mother, Cleto was raised in Johannesburg, and has been living abroad (currently Italy) since 1999. His academic background includes a degree in psychology and communication, and a diploma in business. He has worked in the South African Air Force, United Nations, the HR sector and ultimately in the wellness industry.

Although he experienced personal and professional growth during his time as an expat – his love for South Africa and the goodwill of its nation has never waned. He and his family make regular return-visits, and proudly maintain strong ties.

Having always felt a distinct connection and responsibility as a citizen, he remains abreast of the affairs of South Africa, particularly in terms of its socio-political and economic evolvement, and the many problems it faces.

Cleto strongly believes that the Democratic Alliance’s policies and its values on freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity hold the most realistic hopes and prospects for the country. He’s therefore honoured to be involved in helping raise the Party’s profile internationally through collaboration with its team of supporters around the world.

He hopes that he can encourage and mobilise other South Africans abroad, no matter where or who they are, to help contribute to a brighter future for our country and all its peoples.
