I was born and raised in Skukuza, Kruger National Park. My family then subsequently moved to Cape Town. I studied BComm Law at Stellenbosch University followed by an Honours in Economics. Upon graduation, I moved to London where I lived for 12 years working for the largest European bank in various roles including Investment Banking and developing the bank’s finance proposition of Renewable energy. Recently, I re-located to Hong Kong with my fiancé where I am pursuing my long held passion in wildlife conservation by raising awareness against the ivory trade in Asia.
I have been actively involved with the Democratic Alliance since 2009. I am extremely passionate about South Africa and her people and believe that the Democratic Alliance will provide the leadership that is required to bring about positive political change that South Africa so desperately needs.

Angelique Dermont is a born and bred Port Elizabethan fashion designer, artist, English teacher and proud DA Abroad member living and working in Chongqing, China.
For the past few years, she has seen many instances of political and socio-economic issues that caused her great anxiety about the future of our great nation. As a young person she says that she started off, as many of us do, by posting on social media about her concerns, until she came across the DA Abroad initiative and it clicked for her that she has a responsibility to ensure her own future is a success and carry the torch of freedom on from the struggle fighters of history. In life, Angelique had very little handed to her and came from a modest background. She ‘hustled’ to get ahead in many facets of her life and still does to this day. As a result of this, she believe that her future and the future of other young South Africans is in our own hands and she believes that the Democratic Alliance’s vision is in-line with her own. She hopes to make a difference as a member to radically transform our current political, economic and social climate of our rich and culturally diverse nation. She hopes to do this, especially, through her passion for the arts, youth and business.
