On the 11 May the DA Abroad UK held their first AGM in Westminster, London. The event was well attended, and guests had the pleasure of hearing from South African journalist and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, Martin Plaut who shared his thoughts on the upcoming local government election.
The event commenced at 7pm with a welcome by the incumbent Chairperson, Francine Higham, who also introduced the guest speaker for the evening Martin Plaut. Following an interesting and informed talk by Martin, Francine then delivered the DA Abroad UK Chairpersons Report_2015 and announced the results of the 2016 National Organising Committee elections.

Members in attendance were then given the opportunity to put forward any motions they would like considered. Only one motion was put forward by Jonathan Katzenellenbogen – to send Ghaleb Cachalia best wishes for his campaign to become the next Mayor of Ekurhuleni. This motion was accepted by all members in attendance.
The newly elected DA Abroad Chairperson, William van der Merwe, concluded the AGM at 20:15.
